Illustration a week“Orange and blue”Illustration 3930/01/12Hello folks! How are you all today? Getting ready for the uni year? Or work? Maybe both?I thought I would change this week’s illustration and create a landscape instead. What do you think? Personally I’m quiet happy with it, took me a while to create with a ridiculous amount of layers but I like the shape of the trees and mountains, plus I feel a sense of warmth when I look at the picture. Makes me want to print out a wallet size version and save it for a winters day.Well for Walk In the Forest TV, I’m on the search for a local printers who can print out my forest background for a reasonable price. I was going to print it myself, which will probably still happen and will just look like A3/A2 paper stuck together, but I’ll see what I can find and hopefully have a background to film with, very exciting! As for the microphone, I’m still on the look-out. I was thinking about buying this particular lapel microphone from a music store, it’s wireless and come’s to the price of $199 from what I can remember. At first I thought the price was high, but because I’m not buying a camera this time round, I didn’t see any harm in buying it. The only thing I need to find out about the microphone, is whether I can work it into my laptop, and if I can’t I’ll just have to keep looking. If any of you can save me the trouble and tell me whether wireless lapel microphone’s work with laptops, let me know in the comments section. So that’s it for this week, write down in the comments section about the landscape illustration or my microphone problems. Happy travels in the forest,Lucy-Ann Moore (Walk In The Forest)

Hello folks! How are you all today? Getting ready for the uni year? Or work? Maybe both?

I thought I would change this week’s illustration and create a landscape instead. What do you think? Personally I’m quiet happy with it, took me a while to create with a ridiculous amount of layers but I like the shape of the trees and mountains, plus I feel a sense of warmth when I look at the picture. Illustration a week“Cactus Family”Illustration 3822/01/12Hello folks! How are you this fine monday? This week’s illustration was inspired by the promo I created for Walk In The Forest TV, which has a little cactus sitting on the desk. My aunt who was watching the promo noticed the cactus and thought it was cute, so I decided to illustrate a cactus garden for this week. I’ve changed my technique just a tiny bit by adding eye brows to the face features and I feel they look much better, and for some reason they seem to ground the face more on the head. Also another thing I’ll be trying out is to experiment more with the head shapes, my illustrations of people (and another good example of this is the promo) are starting to look like lollypops, so if I change the shapes of the heads then they won’t look like clones and each person will have their own unique personality. Here’s a link to the video if you wanna see the cactus or if you haven’t seen the promo yet. http://www.youtube.com/user/WalkInTheForestTV?feature=mhee . While I’m on the subject, you guys haven’t said anything about Walk In The Forest TV. What do you all think of the promo? Are you excited? Bored about it? Having trouble trusting me because you feel that the channel might turn out like my shop from last year? Post in the comments below, I really want to hear what you have to say.
Now moving on to the technical woe from last week, which has been resolved by using the laptop to film the episode. As for the microphone side of things, I’ve returned the other mic and it’s out of my life for good, buy sadly doesn’t take away the fact that I need a microphone clip, so I’m still on the search for one. I decided not to buy the other mic as it would’ve been a waste if I wasn’t able to use it later on the life, maybe I’ll buy it another time when I do need it. Gee you’d think I’d be turned off by all this organising and electrical drama, but to be honest with you I’m not. I’m looking forward to making videos about a subject that I’m inspired about and giving you some knowledge on what’s happening in the world of Illustration. In some ways I have mixed emotions about it, when I think of what I just mentioned it’s like “Oh this is actually happening” in a happy emotion, then it may change when I think of speaking in front of a camera and sending it out to the world I feel “Oh this is actually happening” in a nervous emotion. But none the less I am genuinely looking forward to it, and I hope you all are too.Well that’s it for this week, please post your opinions about Walk In The Forest TV and I hope you liked this weeks illustration.Happy travels in the forest,Lucy-Ann Moore (Walk In The Forest)

Illustration a week“School of Fish”Illustration 3716/01/12Hello folks! How is everyone’s monday?Well I’m guessing I’ve definitely exploded on textures in this week’s illustration. Originally, I was about to leave the ocean completely blue with only the basic texture I use in my works, but then I created some white and blue streaks behind the fishes and I’m glad I did because it’s given the ocean a sense of flow like it’s moving around the fish. In the mean time, I must find another colour to use, other than “blue”.On YouTube side of things, I’ve been getting ready for the first episode of Walk In The Forest TV, and it’s been rather eventful. A few days ago, I got a tripod and microphone clip then found that there was no microphone jack in the video camera. So I experimented with the sound of the video camera and a few other video recording devices, but the sound and eventually quality of footage was not up to scratch. Then Christopher suggested that I use the laptop to film and attach the microphone clip to the laptop, but the microphone or microphone port wouldn’t work (which was my fault because I bought it for $10, mental note: never over-estimate cheap electronic products!).So Chris and I went internet surfing for a microphone clip, which I later found out the technical term was “lapel microphone”, and came across this: http://www.amazon.com/Samson-Mic-Compact-USB-Microphone/dp/B001R76D42/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326690006&sr=8-2 . It’s not a clip-on, but it’s great sound quality, compact, connected via usb, and you can either clip it on the top of your laptop or on the desk. The only problem that had risen was that I’ve been told that you can plug in an actual microphone like a lapel into SLR camera’s, so I wanted to buy an SLR Camera some near future to film episodes with But I wouldn’t be able to use the Samson microphone because of no usb port in the camera (well not to my knowledge anyway). So I thought I’d be wasting money if I bought the Samson microphone if I couldn’t use it for an SLR camera. Before I ask you people to post in the comment section, yes I am probably creating these problems myself. But hey, tell me what you would do in this situation or suggestions on what I could do. Know any SLR camera’s at a good price range? Post them here!So that’s it for this week’s illustration, most likely I’ve complained through this whole post but I’m sure you’d do the same thing if you were in my position. See you all next week!Happy travels in the forest,Lucy-Ann Moore

Exploding with happiness? For Christmas, I received a 2 year subscription to Frankie magazine and a 1 year subscription to Desktop magazine (this should be great since I’ve moved a fair way out of town), some illustration books from Amazon plus some more once I use my Christmas money, and season 3 of The Mighty Boosh on DVD. Christmas family get-together was at our house this year because we had recently moved, usually at dinner our family throw napkin planes with prawns in them at the ceiling fan, but never happened this year as mum didn’t want to destroy the new fan But a great Christmas none the less. Then on Boxing Day, the 5 of us went to Jeparite, which is around 15 minutes from Horsham, where we had another Christmas dinner with more family then went back home for New Years. With this illustration, I decided to create the scene with a poodle going to a beauty parlour. Very pleased with the poodle’s texture, it almost gives you the impression that it you poke the arms, you’ll feel the puffyness. How is your monday this week?I’ve actually had to post illustrations at uni instead of posting them at home, as the internet is rather unbearable. It won’t be long until the internet picks up again soon. I’ve completed the intro Walk In The Forest TV, which will debut with the promo video. I have also been watching some tutorials on how to animate in Adobe After Effects created by Ryan Boyle, and it seem easy enough by using puppet tools and separate layers for limbs. It may take a little while but that’s fine, I’d rather the animation take a while and look great at the end, than done very quickly and literally show that it was done quickly. So hope everyone is well, and see you all next week. Happy travels in the forest,Lucy-Ann Moore (Walk In The Forest)
